The Girls Guide To Problems With Boys

He comes over and you open the door just so you can watch him rush up the stairs and turn the corner to see you smiling. He smiles back. You open the door wider and he comes closer, and you reach out and put your arm around him, with the other hand holding the doorknob. He kisses you for a bit and you let go of the doorknob to grab his arm lightly, and he pulls you in closer and then you move, pushing him further out into the hall with your hot stemming out of you like a tea kettle. And he’s pushing you back with his own hot steaming, and then you’re both inside your apartment because boys are stronger than girls and his hot was hotter.

You shut the door and lead him over to your couch where you both sit down. You had put on the mix he gave you a week ago, knowing he was coming over and would like that you like listening to it. It has a lot of music you like now but didn’t know before. You like that he knows things you don’t know.

But you know that the mix always ends with “First Day of My Life“.

But that’s still seven songs away.

Your Only Memory Of Him

You had woken up after he had, and he was already out of bed. You could hear him making coffee in the kitchen: the running water, the grinding of beans, the sound of a kettle hitting a gas range. You were so excited, it had been your first night together, and it was wonderful. You couldn’t wait to tell your friends about it.

You stretched out there, on the bed, trying to look just-woken-up, but still sexy. So when he’d come back to the bedroom he’d say oh you look beautiful.

But he never came back into the bedroom. Finally, you got up, put on some clothes, and walked out into the kitchen. You poured yourself a cup of coffee, having a hard time finding the mugs.

You sat down, and asked him what he was reading.
